AL-Tayf Dairy and Food Products Company “Candia” extended support to the Palestinian Osteoporosis Prevention Society to provide DXA scans to test cancer patients for osteoporosis free of charge at Al-Mezan hospital at Hebron city, especially that the cancer patients are at greatest risk of osteoporosis diseases due to the medicines they have for treatment which weaken the body and the bones.

Mr. Imad al-Hindi, General Manager of AL-Tayf Dairy and Food Products Company said: “The support provided is intended to stand by the cancer patients, especially the children, who are ravaged by cancer”. He added that the campaign seeks to strengthen the concept of taking the enquired health measures which can reduce the pain and help the patients to get well soon, and address the potential side effects of the treatment”.

Mr. al-Hindi asserted that AL-Tayf Dairy and Food Products Company “Candia” strives to provide products rich in vitamin D and other vitamins, especially in the dairy and milk products that support a healthy lifestyle, and make sure that the body receives the suitable nutrients that help in preventing the osteoporosis diseases. Mr. al-Hindi noted that NBC gives priority to supporting the patients and the health sector as part of its CSR efforts, and he asserted that the company is committed to support this campaign in view of its direct positive impact on the lives of many patients.

Dr. Elias Saba, Director of the Palestinian Osteoporosis Prevention Society, appreciated the cooperation with AL-Tayf Dairy and Food Products Company “Candia”, and said that testing constitutes an important part of the treatment of the cancer patients, especially the women, who are at higher risk of osteoporosis disease in general. Further, the risk of osteoporosis is higher in the children and teenagers who have cancer and whose bone development is incomplete. Dr. Saba noted that the first phase of this campaign primarily targets the breast-cancer, prostate-cancer, cervical cancer, and ovarian cancer patients, since they are at greatest risk of osteoporosis disease. He indicated that this campaign constitutes a part of a series of activities conducted by the Society on the World Osteoporosis Day that takes place on 20 October every year.
