Ramallah – Al-Tayf Dairy and Food Products Company “Candia” and the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) – Jerusalem have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at providing in-kind contributions of food products to support students at the YMCA’s Vocational Training Center in Jericho and help meet their basic nutritional needs during their stay and vocational training.
The agreement reflects Al-Tayf Dairy and Food Products Company “Candia’s” commitment to its corporate social responsibility and its support for initiatives focused on education, vocational training, and empowering Palestinian youth, particularly young people from low-income families and those facing limited educational and economic opportunities.
Under the agreement, Al-Tayf Dairy and Food Products Company “Candia” will provide a range of dairy products and food items to contribute to the provision of daily meals for students residing at the Vocational Training Center in Jericho. The in-kind support will be provided in accordance with the agreed quantities for a period of one year.
Established in 1952, the Vocational Training Center in Jericho is one of Palestine’s leading institutions in the field of vocational training. The Center was established to help Palestinian youth acquire practical professions and skills that enable them to enter the labor market and achieve greater self-reliance. Each year, the Center serves a large number of students and trainees through vocational programs in a variety of fields, contributing to preparing graduates for employment and improving their economic opportunities.
Mr. Imad Hindi, General Manager of Al-Tayf Dairy and Food Products Company, said: “At Al-Tayf Dairy and Food Products Company, we believe that our responsibility towards our community goes beyond providing our products. It extends to supporting initiatives that contribute to building people and empowering young people, particularly those facing economic circumstances that limit their access to education and training. Our support for students at the Vocational Training Center in Jericho reflects our belief in the importance of vocational training as a key pathway to empowering young people and preparing them to enter the labor market.”
Al-Hindi added: “We are pleased to be part of this initiative by providing food products that help meet the students’ basic needs during their stay and training. We greatly value the role that the YMCA and the Vocational Training Center in Jericho have played for decades in building the capacities of Palestinian youth and opening new opportunities for them. We hope this partnership will help more students complete their training and access employment opportunities that enable them to become self-reliant and contribute to supporting their families and communities.”
For his part, Mr. Peter Kamil Nasser, General Secretary of the YMCA – Jerusalem, expressed his appreciation for the partnership, saying: “We highly value the support provided by Al-Tayf Dairy and Food Products Company ‘Candia’ to students at the Vocational Training Center in Jericho. This support directly benefits students who are most in need and helps them continue their training programs and residential stay at the Center under better conditions. Providing students with their basic nutritional needs is an important component of the support system they require throughout their training, particularly in light of the difficult economic circumstances facing Palestinian families.”
Nasser added: “Since 1952, the Vocational Training Center in Jericho has continued to fulfill its mission of empowering Palestinian youth through vocational training and connecting them with the labor market. Over the decades, the Center has contributed to graduating generations of young people capable of becoming self-reliant and supporting their families. We view this agreement as an important model of partnership with the private sector and hope it will serve as a sustained step toward strengthening support for education and vocational training and creating better opportunities for Palestinian youth.”
Through this initiative, Al-Tayf Dairy and Food Products Company “Candia” reaffirms its continued commitment to supporting the Palestinian community and contributing to initiatives that enhance opportunities for young people and support those most in need. The company believes that investing in education and vocational training is an investment in the future of society, helping build a generation better equipped to address economic and social challenges while achieving greater independence and self-reliance.
